Birthday Post Mortem
Let's take a moment to remember my birthday...uuummmm....OK, so thankfully there are photos 'cause I don't know about you lot, but it's all a blur to me.
It started off well enough!
And then the party got a little bigger...
A few rowdies showed up...
And then Johnny had a few too many and started flirting...
And THEN there was a massive "Boob Off" (Ding Ding WINNER!!)...
Once again, an absolutely normal "stay at home" sort of celebration. Nothing much to write about really.

Growin' up we was so poor...we couldn't afford water skiis...we had to use the dock.
This is pix of my bro (the elder) towing his pooch Jackson around Genoa Bay. B the E is the warfinger (pron: war-fin-jer) at Genoa Bay Marina. Apparently my concept of what that job entails is completely off the mark.
It is not about being a salty old dog, working in a marina and mucking around on boats...
it is about parading a salty old dog, around the marina, behind a boat.
Colour me embarrassed.

Ummmm....
I think my friend Thai is pregnant with 6 year olds not 6 month olds!
O.K. some day I may, ("gulp"), have children. Many of my friends have, many are trying (perhaps even as we speak....yick). But none...NONE are having babies like Thai.
Thai and her husband Steve, as you can read in her Blog, have up and moved with their toddler Finley to Hong Kong. Thai is pregnant with twins. Thai is 5 foot NOTHING. (O.K. Thai, yes..yes..5 foot two!)
I love you desperately, but HLOY CARP!! I know housing is crazy in HK, but you must have been able to come up with a better solution than housing Steve and Fin IN YOUR BELLY!!!
And...might I remind our dear readership...Thai is only 6 months preggers. 3 more months to go!!
xo Miss.C
PS Twins does not run in either family. As the warning goes... Buyer Beware.

A Widow Once Again
As many of you know, my darling Rosamond has a day job. I know, I know...how does she manage to do the dishes, fluff the pillows, change the channels for me, shake up a mean 'tini AND go to work every day. The answer is...I don't know. She's a better girl than me. Truly.
Rosamond has worked for the past four years, doing lord know what, on a television show called The L Word.
The hours are long. Often 15 or more hours a day. Dragging her haggard soul through the door at 4 in the morning. Weekends become a 36 hour panic to get laundry done, call friends, catch up on sleep, and plan for the upcoming week. I become a Dyke Drama widow.
In a few weeks, the madness will begin again. I will no doubt be blogging more, and will be available for tea, coffee, board games, knitting bees, wicca blood lettings...what ever comes my way. Please send detailed instructions to making a martini. I am lost, alone, and sober.
cin cin,

Old friend
When I was in high school, oh those many years ago, I was bitten by the "acting bug". Since then a vast amount of my favourite moments in life have been in the theatre. Many of you may not know, however, that I was also a band geek, and a choir nerd as well. My friends and peer group, who had similar interests, are some of the most amazing people I have ever known.
Andrea was 2 years older than me, and I looked up to her. She was wry, sarcastic, smart, brave, shameless, gregarious, and kind. Although we had not kept in contact in many years, she was one of those personalities that pops into my everyday activities.
(Andrea lived in my hometown, and her father, Jim, was the owner of a successful construction company. This info will make more sense in a minute.)
My first play I ever performed in, and the aforementioned acting bug bite, was "The Importance of Being Earnest". I was Cecily Cardew, and Andrea played the irascible "Lady Bracknell". It should be mentioned that Lady B is a HUGE part. Not in text, but in personality. Often in professional productions a man is cast in the part to give it that "command of the stage" power of presence. For a seventeen year-old girl to pull it off is daunting to say the least. Andrea commanded the stage with humour and grace with the best of them.
One evening in particular, (perhaps it was closing night?), we were all on stage for the final scene- Where Jack runs off stage to retrieve the infamous "handbag". However, when dear Jack (Andrew Booth) went backstage he tripped over the support for one of the flats. It, the flat, had not been weighted down with a sandbag, and like proverbial dominoes the entire set started to fall!
We young thespians stared at each other, Father Chasuble and Miss. Prism being very nearly crushed, and started to prop up the walls...Andrea, without loosing a beat, took centre stage and exclaimed in a booming Bracknellian voice,
"Well this house obviously wasn't made by Jim Boorman construction!"
The show must go on, and without any doubt, one of my favourite memories.
I will miss her very much.
I found out this morning that my old friend, Andrea Boorman, has passed away from cancer. She battled very hard, for a long time.

My Daddy: The Septuagenarian
Happy Birthday Daddy
You taught me up from down, gin from vodka, soccer from football, lager from pale ale, left from right, standard from automatic, jokes from puns, hydroplane from airplane, Robertson from Phillips, ...everything a girl needs to survive in this crazy world.
I love ya.

The Top Banana
Behold! The glories of Organics@Home!
Rosamond and I have been enjoying the weekly organic fruit and vegetable deliveries. It is a bit like C-mas morning, opening the blue Rubbermaid when we get home from work. And this week, what to our wondering eyes should appear? But the world's most GINORMOUS BANANA!!
Seriously. Two bananas in one. We had to slice it like bread. I thought it was G.M.O. bananas that were supposed to be all freaky.
I'll keep you updated on what oddities this week's bounty puts forth.
Miss. C, Rosamond, and our new house guest...Senor Banana.
PS. Please keep all unsavory comments to yourselves.

2006: A Retrospective.
I was speaking with my bro recently, and we both agreed that '06 was a sleeper of a year. Not that many exciting things didn't happen, but that the overall vibe was one of "Why don't I just cosy up with a good book, and do all those chores...a bit later."
I had a good year, trips to Thailand, Toronto, Highway 99, Seattle, and Victoria. Celebrated five years with Rosamond. Friends were married, some started new jobs. It wasn't all pretty in pink however, as loved ones battled for their lives, or felt loss. It was a big year, in every way, and to give '06 its props I have selected some pics as a bit of an homage. Enjoy.
Thailand
Toronto
Seattle & Victoria
So, I suppose, after all 2006 was pretty fantastic after all!
Look out 2007!
Miss.C
PS. This my fab bro at his new gig. He is the BEST Sushi Chef in Canada.
Seriously, Tojo who?!
